Oppenheim is a news producer for KRQE News 13 in Albuquerque, joining the staff in 2018. He currently produces an hour-long newscast at 4 p.m.
He’s worked in journalism for 20 years, with his first newspaper job coming when he was 17. Oppenheim was a sports reporter for the Star-Herald in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and later the staff photographer for the Alamogordo Daily News in southern New Mexico.
He received an associate’s degree from Western Nebraska Community College in 2005, and enrolled at the University of New Mexico in 2012 to finish his education. He majored in journalism and history with a minor in political science, graduating summa cum laude in 2016.
Oppenheim then spent two years as a web producer for KOB-TV, before moving moving across the street to KRQE.
An Air Force brat until the fifth grade, he grew in the Albuquerque metro and graduated from Rio Rancho High School in 2000. He lives on the West Side with his wife, Lori. Most of his family also lives in Albuquerque. They have two cats, Abby and Phoebe.
