Over the weekend, NAHJ and New Mexico PBS hosted a screening and discussion of The Rise and Fall of the Brown Buffalo, a film about radical Chicano lawyer, author and icon, Oscar Zeta Acosta.

Our panelists, Professor Myra Washington, NM Dream Team organizer Felipe Rodriguez Romero and columnist Gustavo Arellano, explored how the film fits in with today’s climate, the representation of Acosta’s life and how his activism tactics would translate on modern-day social media.

The panelists also explored representations of race, mental illness, gender and the LGBTQ community.
